Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:
- Review the different types of midwives practicing in Pennsylvania.
- Understand the impact of cesarean delivery and our imperative to reduce cesarean delivery rates.
- Discuss the benefits of collaborative care between midwives and physicians.
- Examine the clinical, educational, research, cultural, and administrative strategies used in a collaborative model of care.
- Introduce the WISDOM Model of Collaborative Care to reduce the incidence of cesarean delivery.
- Be exposed to what midwifery care can look like in a hospital setting and the benefits of a collaborative model of care for patients and providers.
