The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program provides information for every nurse, paramedic, physician, and ancillary staff to be able to make appropriate and timely decisions, about the care of a sick or premature infant before transport.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for perinatal physicians, pediatric physicians, emergency physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and for EMS pre-hospital providers.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
identify infants at risk for hypoglycemia; monitor for signs of, treatment for, and post-treatment reassessment for hyperglycemia
identify physiologic responses to hypothermia for term and preterm infants
explain physical examination to evaluate for shock
state risk factors that predispose an infant to infection and the clinical sign of sepsis
identify ways health care providers can support parents of sick infants
