At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:
- describe principles of cancer pain assessment, including pathophysiology, etiologies, and grading systems
- describe current pharmacologic cancer-related pain management principles
- describe the drug characteristics that impact the safety and efficacy of opioids
- characterize the appropriate use of buprenorphine and methadone for cancer-related pain
