Series Overview

We discuss patients with medically refractory epilepsy undergoing workup for potential surgical management. This discussion includes the use of novel diagnostic and both invasive and non-invasive surgical techniques that may not be familiar to many of the epilepsy practitioners and neurology and neurosurgery (this group consists of neurologists, neurosurgeons, radiologists, psychologists, as well as electroencephalography, magnetoencephalography, diagnostic imaging (MRI, functional MRI, SPECT, and PET scans), neuropsychological testing, surgical procedures (including laser and radio-frequency ablation), cortical mapping (using electrical simulation, deep brain simulation) and alternative medical
therapies.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for neurologists, neurosurgeons, radiologists, psychologists, as well as advance practitioners, nurses and neurology and neurosurgery residents. Other learner groups such as administrators would also benefit from this education.
