Learning Objectives: 

At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to: 

  1. To describe a novel approach to analyzing ethical issues in ECMO care, through a crowd-sourced reasoning project with over 40 expert stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and ethicists, many directly involved in providing ECMO care.
  2. To summarize the major known ethical issues in ECMO care as identified through expert crowd-sourced reasoning.
  3. To recommend future research in ECMO care ethics to fill identified gaps in knowledge, practice, and policy.
